A very typical American Chinese restaurant. I stopped by on my way heading north on I95 when lunchtime hit and I was craving rice. Saw the reviews on Yelp that this is pretty decent place.
When I got in, it took a little while to be seated. Then, it took a long time before my server acknowledged me. I think the server was overworked as he handled way too many tables.
The menu was pretty extensive. However, they have a good lunch special menu. I ordered the shrimp and vegetables. The shrimp I got was pretty good sized and fresh. I was given quite a few shrimp. Good value especially since my lunch includes egg roll as well.
Authentic Chinese food? They are not but it was enough to satisfy my rice craving.
I've been here in Jax for 4 years and I was looking for a good spot for Chinese food and I think I finally found it. All I really want is shrimp fried rice and a few egg rolls. This place got it right. The meal was just as I like it, brown rice, plenty of nice sized shrimp and egg rolls with more than one piece of shrimp in them. It's not the best ever but it's the best I've had in 4 years. Service was nice and quick. I'll be back.
Doesn't appear to be that many Chinese restaurants in the area, but boyoboy did I pick a good one. Food is very very good. Best of all those serving the food, cooking and collecting the money were very gracious and made you feel at home.
I have now ordered food from Chan's 3x's now and each time it just keeps getting better.
We have ordered the following:
Sweet and Sour Chicken - this was part of a combo meal with fried rice and egg roll. The meal was massive.
So much food in this meal that there was enough for food the next night.
***Delishious both nights***
General Tso's Chicken - this was part of a combo meal with fried rice and egg roll. Another huge amount of food enough for food for the next night.
****Delishious both nights***
Steamed vegetables- carrots, onions, broccoli, baby carrots, snow peas - Very fresh and tasty
Chicken LoMein - noodles were very good and the dish was not overly saturated with green onion or other vegetables. Chicken was present and visible but this dish could use a bit more chicken.
Boneless ribs - this is more like chunks of boneless ribs in a sauce over broccoli and wow yummy goodness. Plenty to share with a few.
The family that owned Chan's brings their cooking experience from Brooklyn NY so this is what most people think of as real as real can get.
My favorite Chinese restaurant in Jacksonville! The food is always fresh and delicious. Whether you're calling in an order or dining in, they never take more than 10 mins. My favorite go to meal is the Super Dinner. Oh, and the customer service is always good. You won't be disappointed!
